Covid-19 has created an economic crisis while deepening the insecurities of our residents with increase crime. I will work with the Council to adequately fund the police to maintain public safety. The police should get all the support they need from the Council and the community to do their best to keep everyone safe.
As a small business owner, myself I know first-hand the pain and challenges other small businesses are facing. Our business environment needs to be user-friendly. We need to streamline the permitting processes, lower fees and taxes, and use our taxes wisely. Small businesses are the fabric of our community, we must assist them to ensure their sustainability. Losing Cloverleaf Bowl means that we've lost Fremont's iconic past so we must do more to re-imagine ways to bring these small businesses into the 21st century while keeping our cultural history vibrant.
We must do more to expand our affordable housing inventory while making Fremont a livable and walkable community. We are in Silicon Valley and we have the talent to move us into the forefront of innovative design.
We must engage with all stakeholders to find workable solutions to cut traffic congestion. Covid-19 has proven that work from home can be done so we will work with our region leaders to rework policies and infrastructure to further this paradigm. Encourage employers to move away from a central office model to a distributed work location model to reduce traffic. We will work to expand localization of services that businesses and workers want to re-imagine a 21st Century traffic-free environment.
